Inspired by the formal elements and composition of William Blake’s "The Ancient of Days," with conceptual influence drawn from Michelangelo, this artwork reimagines The High Priestess tarot card. I adopted a fresco technique, applying plaster of Paris over a canvas; mirroring methods favoured by both Blake and Michelangelo to introduce visual texture. The High Priestess was chosen for her associations with wisdom, tenacity, and intuition, qualities I admire and personally connect with. This piece, a component of my IB portfolio exploring how art has shaped religion, merges luminous textures and symbolic subject while emulating the conceptual processes of my artistic influences.
