This artwork is the first in a paired series from my IB portfolio exploring the theme of how art has shaped religion. It features a monochromatic, highly realistic depiction of an angel statue, enhanced by a motif of real leaves that were painted and stamped onto the canvas. The leaves introduce a softness and create visual contrast with the statue’s detailed form, balancing organic texture and structure. By merging traditional religious iconography with natural elements, the piece highlights how artistic choices can deepen spiritual meaning and convey the enduring influence of art on religious experience.
